It's nothing short of a true honor. Jaggers, one of the founder has a great saying, and that is that we are not healers...we simple create safe space for your body heal itself. If you go to the doctor, the doctor does not heal you. No, they bandage you, stitch you, etc and your body heals on its own.

This letter was very helpful and so interesting! (the poll was closed, but I wanted to cast my vote regardless)

Congrats on the new journey you're on with Somatic Breathwork! I checked out some of the videos and it looks like amazing work that you guys are doing and teaching others to do. Wow! I'm looking forward to experiencing it someday in person.

I just bought a book you're probably familiar with, called The Body Keeps The Score. My oldest daughter is reading it, and I wanted to join her on the journey. I haven't even opened it up yet, but I'm excited to understand and work on healing anything that needs to be healed. I'm even more excited for her to be reading it as I know it's going to have an incredible impact just by reading some of what you were sharing in regards to our bodies holding the stress and traumas.

I do have one question. I was wondering if you could explain this sentence.

"Somatic breathwork is a modality that addresses both the mind and body by starting with a bottom-up vs top-down approach.

Thanks in advance!

The Body Keeps the Score is a staple in this work. Many of our practitioners have read this and we encourage it to anyone who seeking to gain insight to how the body holds & processes trauma. Such valuable information!

Per your question, traditional talk therapy starts from the top (working with the mind) asking questions etc whereas Somatic therapies start from the bottom (instincts - how you feel).

Rather than diagnosing based on what people think, let's shift to how people feel then work our way up into what they think about that feeling.

It's certainly not this or that but a rather this AND that approach.

Great question!

Thanks for taking the time to answer! I’m glad I asked because the visual of the top being the mind makes absolute sense.

Now that you’ve explained the way somatic work works, I’m even more intrigued.

I can only imagine what hosting these events must feel like for you and the other practitioners.
