I want to share with you a framework that has helped me cultivate a solid support system.
But first, here’s a summary of all the juice in this weeks Philo Letter:
Framework for support + Free Daily Breathwork Practice
Access to last month workshop on “ Systems Hacking - Saving Time & Money” w/Matt Gottesman (see more at the end).
Free workshop: Content Batching - Collecting, Organizing, & Distilling Content. Tuesday, July 26th w/Matt Gottesman.
Free 8-week course on Philosophical Fellowship: Architects of the Psyche. Begins Tuesday Sept. 20th, 2022.
Ok now let’s jump to it.
There are many different ways to approach the challenges we face in life.
If we rely on our own inner resources, we are more likely to find lasting solutions to our problems. We can develop a greater sense of self-reliance and confidence.
Every difficulty in life presents us with an opportunity to turn inward and to invoke our own submerged inner resources. The trials we endure can and should introduce us to our strengths. ~Epictetus~
However, external resources are available to us in a multitude of ways as well. More on that later.
There is no right or wrong resource to call on but more so what situation they’re called upon.
Each approach has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Internal resources include things like:
Strength
Resilience
Determination
Calmness
External resources might include:
Family & Friends
Professionals & Mentors
Books & Podcasts
Online communities
The key is to find what works for you and to build a system that you can rely on.
One way to start is by identifying your internal resources. Write down what qualities you have that will help you in times of need?
For example, if you're naturally calm in the face of adversity, that could be useful in times of stress.
Or if you're good at problem-solving, that could come in handy when faced with challenges.
Once you've identified your internal resources, make sure to nurture them.
That might mean taking some time for self-care or practicing stress-relief techniques such as breathwork 👈 free daily breathwork practice (highly recommended)
In addition to internal resources, external resources can also be beneficial.
Family & friends can provide emotional support, while professionals can offer guidance and advice. Books, Audible, and podcasts are absolutely endless.
Literally, pick a topic and run with it! You can learn literally ANYTHING today.
The amount of access we have to information today compared to 100 years ago is insane. What we have access to in one day (24hours), today, would take an entire lifetime in the early 1900’s to be exposed to. Isn’t that just wild!?
Lastly, online communities are growing by the waves as they can be great resources of information and support.
This is why Derek (my best friend) and I started the Philosophical Fellowship 🤓 📚
When choosing external resources, look for people and groups who are supportive and who share your values.
Are you clear on your personal values?
Here are some values to pull from:
Loyalty
Spirituality
Modesty
Courage
Humility
Justice
Compassion
Honesty
Kindness
Integrity
Selflessness
If you’re clear on your values, do you act in accordance with them?
Or could you use a framework built on a proven foundation that enables you to establish and embody your values?
If so, Derek and I are launching a free course that begins Tuesday, Sept. 20th, 2022.
8 weeks | 1 call per week | radical transformation - guaranteed.
If you’re feeling stressed out, anxious, or maybe you just feel like you have no idea WHAT you’re doing with your life….I encourage you to join us….Again, it’s completely free…
Our mission is to provide the necessary Architecture of the Psyche (Mind + Soul) and guide our students through the process of self discovery and transformation.
The end result is a person who not only has ended the suffering in their own life, but helps to alleviate the suffering of their surrounding world.
Resources matter.
In next weeks letter i’m going to break down a framework for collecting, organizing, distilling, and expressing information.
Specifically related to creating content for your personal brand or business.
In fact, Matt Gottesman and I are doing a free workshop on Collecting, Organizing, & Distilling content On Tuesday, July 26th.
